I LOVE twitter

So as you know I am on twitter. At frist I thought twitter was pointless, then I thought is was annoying, then intruiguing, then engaging, then inspiring, then…………..

I.was.hooked! There are many reasons why I love twitter. Today I have a special appreciation for twitter being a great tool for networking!

For example today I met IRL(in real life, for those of you who think I need to get a life) the Kim Sears. Kim lives right here in my quaint little city of Cheyenne, Wyoming. Kim and I have been corresponding on twitter for awhile. We have missed each other at events, we have mutual friends, so finally I just invited her for coffee. We talked about work, social media, business ideas, travel, Wyoming, blogs, etc. etc. I really really enjoyed our visit. I am pretty sure she thinks I am a dork. Sometimes I get so excited when I get to talk to someone who “gets it” when referring to marketing and business and life. You know those people, as soon as you meet them you just know they “get it”. Anyways I chattered none stop through our whole meeting. It could have been the coffee or it could be I really need to get out more;)

So check out Kim she is a super smart business woman, has a passion for Wyoming and the West, really nice, very gracious AND did I mention she has flawless hair and skin. The last part is a little annoying, but I got over it. Kim’s blog is called Kim’s Trails West and find her on twitter here.

Thanks Again Kim!

My Gratitude on Twitter

So if you haven’t noticed I am on Twitter. What does that mean? Well it means I am a full fledged narcissist. Or maybe it means that I enjoy connecting with people, sharing ideas, engaging in a network and meeting new and interesting people. So what is Twitter. Well twitter asks you one simple question, “What are you doing?” So do I just tell people every random detail of my day? Sometimes, but sometimes I share an interesting article, a love story I am following, a picture I like or I talk to someone interesting. It is micro blogging. This means you have 140 characters to get to the point and say what you mean and mean what you say. Are you interested in twitter? Want to know how to get started here is a great resource.

But tonight I am writing about gratitude. When I was in college I had a very smart professor who gave me a very simple assignment. I was to keep a journal for 60 days. I only had to write down 6 things in that journal each night before I went to bed. I was to write 3 things I was worried about and 3 that made me feel grateful. But there was a catch, there is always a catch! I was never to look back at what I had written. So big deal, I kept to my assignment faithfully.

Finally at the end of the 60 days I was to look back through what I tucked away in that journal. Guess what? The “worry” items either worked themselves out or they didn’t; but either way I still got up every morning and went on with my day. Now I don’t even bother writing down 3 “worries”. I only write down 3 items of gratitude. But lately right before I go to bed I pull out my crackberry and type in 3 items of gratitude. Why? Because we have whole lot of ugly going on in our world right now. I want to spread something positive, I want to spread feeling of gratitude. So are you curious about what I am thankful for? Just look here. Do you want to see what other Tweeps are talking about? Just use twitter search and type in #gratitude (A hash(#) tag just denotes a searchable term on twitter)? Or here I already did it for you;)

So what are you grateful for tonight?
