Here we go again we a very long detailed post of yard sale treasures and memories made. I am again cataloging memories of my beloved Winner’s Circle this is Chapter 3. For the full explanation of nonsense you have some back reading to do,
This is a wedding picture I found at Goodwill. I thought it looked similar to the husband and I so I bought it and hung it on the wall with pride. For a great Photographer in Cheyenne check out Masterpiece by Sarah
Back in the 1950s when the Winner’s Circle was built they knew how to build some closets. This Room has three closest. Yes three, count em, THREE! I got the two big closets on the left and dear husband got the small skinny sad little closet on the right. I actually think back in the day this was two rooms and the small closet was a coat closet on the porch?? I am not sure…
Opps I almost forgot to detail every mundane detail, I mean some day my great great grandchildren will be dieing to know where I got the cute laundry basket! I owe it to the next generation to detail my memories, my history, where I air my dirty laundry…
Okay the laundry basket, hamper, etc. came from Hobby Lobby. You guessed it, it was on sale. Do you hear that great great great grandchildren there once was a day you could buy a laundry hamper for $10.
Finally the bed came with the husband and it is very comfortable. Thanks for contributing to the room dear husband! The above the bed wood scrolls thingys came from a yard sale for $2. I bought them from a very nice lady who was in the military and moving to Germany. I hope my two US Dollars bought her something equally fabulous in Germany(weird how I remember this stuff, I know!) Finally the night stand on the left I took from my Mom, it was an ugly blue when I got it, I painted it black. That way it shows dust really easily, awesome idea, I know. Then the fabulous lamp I bought in goodwill in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Scottsbluff is a half way point for my Mom and I. Then I found the lampshade the very next week in Cheyenne’s goodwill. Finally I put a black satin ribbon around the shade and pinned it with a vintage diamond looking pin. I can’t remember where I saw that idea by I think we should all find more excuses to use diamonds and ribbons! Then I got the satin zebra print sheets on ebay, the white duvet cover at a garage sale in college in Missouri, and the big fluffy down Pottery Barn Comforter at my friend Cari’s garage sale. You remember Cari the one who blogs about more important things than yard sale comforters and zebra sheets.
Oh finally I almost forgot that black leather bench at the end of the bed, pretty sure it’s not leather, and pretty sure about 25 pairs of extra shoes where hidden away inside at the time of this picture. This lovely nightstand my friend Debbie gave me, I sprayed it black and added a knob from Target. Finally it holds my Bible(the top of my recommended reading list) and the bible cover my best friend Amanda gave me for a birthday present.
Finally this shelf I found at Hobby Lobby along with the candle and red feathers. The picture is of husband riding a colt he trained at the cutting futurity. The horses name is Gunner and my mother in law now rides him. The other frame is a cool silver heart and the verse 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. My sister in law gave me this the night before I got married. Sound advice, thanks Tami!
Then also on this shelf are big black creepy feathers from a very large crow. Every time I see this shiny black feather I shudder in horror, but then I laugh. These feathers remind me of a different time in my life. A time in my life where I lived in a different world, with a different reality than what I know now. Someday I’ll tell you a dramatic story about perspective and then again I may not…
Okay on with the nonsense,
Finally a dresser that used to be white, when this dresser lived in a different time, with different perspective and a different reality. Then I plucked this dresser from Trader’s Corner, made it black, rubbed it’s old drawers with bars of soap, and gave it fancy new knobs. The dresser scarf is lovely with fancy beading from Target by way of Goodwill. Then a cute little foot rest my Dad made me for Christmas. Actually I think he may have bought it at Walmart put he covered it in cowhide and added a concho and I love it! Then a mirror that probably used to have a stand back in another lifetime. My Mom found it for me! Also on the dresser is a iPod alarm clock, husband and I like to awake to this song
Trust me, a great way to start your day!
Then finally husbands collection of cowboy hats, husband also contributed this hat rack! A great ranch oak chair which was found by my mom. A Pendleton blanket my Mother gave husband and I for a wedding present. Whenever I look at this expensive blanket I swell with pride and think “I must be a grownup, I have my very own Pendleton”. It’s funny what we each pick for status symbols. Forget the BMW’s and louis vuitton, just get me a Pendleton! Then another beaded pillow found at a garage sale and finally a horseshoe cross. A friend made the cross for me for Christmas one year. Then you will also notice the patio door looks out onto the arena=AWESOME!!
This lovely shaped mirror with etchings was found at none other than Goodwill. If you look closely you will see the reflection of The Peach!
My favorite aresenal of beauty products. This is what I need to put my “face on”! Oh and deordant, that is for my armpits, not my face!
This lovely little vanity my Mom and I found at a yardsale. My mom does this lady’s hair back home and this vanity was in rough shape! She gave it to us for free, really I think she didn’t want to haul it off. It was a little more work than I had anticipated, but I think it turned out great. I first peeled off all the old veneer. It was partial on and partially off making it very uneven. Then I spray painted it black, got some more knobs from Target, then stencilied the red scroll looking things on the bottom drawers. Finally my mom found me a replacement mirror(it didn’t come with one!) Then I found this stool already covered in red velvet at my favorite antique store in Cheyenne. You have to visit Antiques Central it is three stores of heaven. Find directions here.
Then also on the vanity is a picture of my cowboy, etc.
Wells that is it, I’m sure you will be glued to your computer until I post the next installment;) Here is the website if you want to buy our lovely home.
