Turquoise Beds

I have been getting the itch to redecorate lately. So I am going to track my inspiration on my blog. This blog serves as a great inspiration board to keep everything in one spot:) If you are curious as to what else I am looking at feel free to check out my bookmarks at delicio.us/HollyLane

This is my all time favorite find! I would like to first start with my bedroom. I found this from Crows Nest Trading Company.

Sadly this bed costs, $7499.00 Does anybody have any ideas on how to recreate this? I have thought about testing on a nightstand some techniques and then if it turns out trying it out on our current bed. Let me know if any of you creative types have any ideas. Would you just “sand” it down and then paint turquoise and wipe off? Or if anyone would like to donate just let me know.

Cataloging Memories: Winner’s Circle For Sale (Spare Bedroom)

I have already moved to this house. But the realization we are selling the Winner’s Circle has been hitting home lately. So I am cataloging memories, this was our spare bedroom upstairs. When Colt was gone I would sleep in this room. It was in the middle of this big old house and was very cozy and homey. One of my very favorite rooms in the whole house.

Bought this curtain at a yard sale. I think it was actually from Target.

Again wastebasket and magazine basket are from goodwill. This little stand has a dear place in my heart. This stand was from my Great Grandma, it was hers and now my sewing machine sits on it. The sewing machine came from Goodwill for $9. It is the heaviest sewing machine you have ever lifted. But is a good one, this sewing machine runs like a well oiled machine. Oh wait probably because it is…

This is a cute little shelf that was left in the house from a previous tenant. It fit right in and I thought it was cute. Then I think I got the barrel racing candle from my mom. Then finally this painting is of a great rope horse Colt owned.

This is a cedar chest form my mom. It holds many treasures from my youth, including lots and lots of Holly Hobby items. That was big the year I was born and have a extensive collection. I hope Holly Hobby one day goes wild as a collectors item and serves as my retirement. Otherwise I may just have to devote an entire museum to my very own personal collection of Holly Hobby. Then also on the chest is a vintage cowboy quilt my mom found me. It is one of my favorites. Finally the chest is topped with two pillows I got at my friend Cari’s garage sale. Speaking of Cari you should read her blog. She is super smart and writes about more important things than pillows and Holly Hobby collections. Check out Cari’s blog here. p.s. I love the pillows they are leather with brands all over them.
Finally this is my favorite chair in the whole world. I found it at a antique shop with a broken leg for $5. Then I bought some leather on ebay. I was bound and determined to have it reupholstered. I love the design of this chair. But it sat in my garage for about a year and a half until finally husband insisted it go to the dump. I agreed with my husband and loaded up the chair in the back on my pickup. I left for the dump and instead hauled it straight to the upholstery shop and gulped when they told me the quote. When I brought it home husband declared it the most uncomfortable chair ever. I agreed and won a silent victory on the inside. The chair was officially mine, didn’t have to worry about no stinky cowboy stealing my very favorite chair on this big wide plant earth of ours.
Finally this chair is topped with a pillow I found at TJ Maxx on clearance for $6. Can you believe a cowboy pillow at TJ Maxx? I know, I almost fainted. Then also is my cowgirl poster. Bought a poster then put it in a cheap frame from Hobby Lobby.

So there you have it the first room of the Winner’s Circle for Sale Series. Don’t worry this house only has 13 rooms. This is going to get exhausting. You might want to just wait and come back a week later. I really don’t know why I file into memory every single item and which garage sale I bought it at, where the garage sale was, which little old lady I beat to get my item, which housewife I Jew down on the price and what I was wearing. This is really quite odd considering the fact I just had to ask husband how to spell memory… So one down 12 to go!

A Coffee Shop fit for a Cowgirl

Do you have a special spot where you can go where you just feel totally in your element? You walk in and you just feel a creative energy to write, or a peaceful calm where you can be totally content if you are done writing.

Well I have that very place downtown Cheyenne, Wyoming. I love The Trail Coffee Shop! It is located in the very cowgirl chic hotel, The Plains Hotel. I really, really enjoy anytime I spend downtown but The Plains has always caught my undivided attention(okay that is a true exaggeration, I don’t know if I have ever had undivided attention!) Anyway if you are ever passing through or by downtown Cheyenne, call me. I would love for an excuse to meet you at my favorite spot. Now a little tour of the highlights, shall we?

This is not a map, well okay it is kinda… this is the wallpaper. Awesome!!

Cute little cafe tables by Molesworth I believe, yes a favorite of mine. Do you know know about this wonderful furniture? Well Click here and here.
The details of the decorating is really incredible. I don’t think they missed anything.

Did I mention pastries? I will let you know if I ever getting around to trying any of the sweets. Okay I’m not fooling anyone. Yes I indulged, and yes they are yummy.

This wise fellow(I named him Phil, yup Buffalo Phil from The Plains) and I have many debates on Politics, Philosophy, and Religion. Every coffee shop needs a grouchy local who never seems to leave. Well Surprising Buffalo Phil is very liberal, so it makes for some heated debates between us. I always thought buffalos would be conservative. You just never know.

Now I just need someone to play checkers with…
