Didi Taylor NFR Barrel Racer

In our last week in Arizona my hustler husband found a trailer we just had to buy, of course. We had to drive clear south of Phoenix to pick up a really cute little living quarters trailer.  Which once I found out the details of this trailer I didn’t complain about the long drive.

Also my husband told me I would enjoy meeting the seller. We were buying a trailer from Didi Taylor. There just is something extra about winners, when you meet them you can just tell. There is an extra fire to them, you can tell how competitive they are as soon as you meet them. Didi is professional barrel racer who qualified to the National finals Rodeo. We visited about her trip to the NFR in 1983. We also talked about some of the great horses she has ridden and owned. One of her horses, “Cowgirl” was ridden by Sharon Camarillo at an NFR. Read some more about that here. I could sit around and visit with Didi all afternoon about stories of days gone by, hauling down the rodeo trail. But we had to hightail it North to miss traffic. Then a few days later we headed even further North to Wyoming. So next winter I might have to head down and see if Didi would let me ride with her. Next time our picture will also be taken on horses. I look like Shrek the Ogre standing beside Didi. After I seeing the picture I am worried I might just be to big to be a barrel racer. Seriously I am only 5’6. I didn’t realize Didi was so short and petite. I think her personality of larger than life didn’t let me notice how little she is, I can’t wait to see her ride. I wish there was an internet archive of NFR runs from 1983. I bet it was something to see…
